It is best to begin and then make it your own version to make it dynamic and workable. What makes it last so long is the ease that it has to conform into another same purpose it is meant for. Qigong uses controlled movement, self-message, breathing, sound, and mental focus to decrease stress, improve mobility and increase self-awareness.
Qigong Breathing is, inhale deeply (through the nose) and exhale (through the nose). What is important is to place the tongue at the roof of the mouth as you breathe in and down as you breathe out. This creates the fluid that is needed for hydration. You must breathe in whatever way is comfortable and the least effort. For the cultivation practice it is through the nose only. Please be safe and use your Doctor descretion.
How often should you practice? Five to 10 minutes daily is all you need at first to start feeling the benefits of qi gong. Of course, if you can't squeeze it in daily, you can still see some benefits. Just breathing and moving can really make a difference
For a beginner, 20-30 minutes a day should help you learn postures, principles, and to develop muscle memory over time. If you can't practice every day, at least 2-3 times a week will suffice, although muscle memory will take longer to develop.

Qigong is the simpler and more adaptive of the two, focusing more on cultivating energy known as chi or qi, while tai chi places more emphasis on physical form and requires more discipline.
Qigong and Tai Chi are traditionally seen as methods of cultivating and balancing the flow of internal energy and, as therapeutic interventions, presents a means of involving the body and mind in the process of healing trauma.
